A Rose in the Sand Find me, I’m right here Hear my voice, please Scintillating flash trembling roar Prayer for the day swept away Can’t put any words to this hell What brought me here I have to know What brought me here (Father, sister, mother, brother) And she’s gone and, he’s gone, all alone in this darkness Dispossessed, on the wrong side of the world This isn’t the place it used to be Not the home I used to know Oh, find me here I’m right here Hear my voice and save me Been waiting for you I’m right here Hold my hand and save me When I nearly fainted, (I) felt the warmth in my hand In the cold, driving rain Rays of hope shimmered through shattered facades All I could see was your face, beautiful face, full of mercy Rose in the sand, blue rose of the desert Slender sign of life reaching out Right from here, right from debris, I found you You’ll be my angel I found you here, my angel You’re a rose in the sand I found you here, so different world set into motion A new life has just begun

Bread and Water They break through clouds (so to kill) We toil on the ground (just to live) Pitiful soldiers, heavily equipped conscripts Prideful, threadbare, worn-out t-shirts, we put on We chose to let it flow And to let the rose grow What can be the answer here when the sky starts falling and tumbling? Until we meet the great river We’ll never stop moving, we hold on Until the water turns this desert into green We the people get strong as can be Against what do we clash? Salvage what for whose sake? No time to fight Both sides will lose by twilight Can’t you see? Needlessly we claw this field dried up by insanity Pridefully undergoing A stormy sand The sea of rage We chose to let it flow And to let the rose grow What can be the answer here when the sky starts falling and tumbling? No weapon we choose but Bread and Water To stop meaningless abuses Rough rivers run as if it’s something to do On this desert cracked Under the cruel sun Against what do we clash? Salvage what for whose sake? We, astray sheep on an ark on the sand of debris Will watch the sophist being eaten up By the desire to the end

Ambiguous Loss Without warning Bursting into my head your memories etched in the sandstone Since that day, I began to live a life that’s yours As if I’ve ever known for the one I’ve never known Standing on this hill of the high-land Swaying in this sirocco Sensing your lips move your tears and fears in your eyes grow It takes me back to the sceneries of your days past Countless pieces of memories collide and slide by In the midst of such a cruel world, I have to wake and arise Though history attends to us quietly I have to go against the dazzling sky I know there is no way to see you anymore in front of my eyes but I raise my sail high Not too late to scream, about your sorrow and your pain Ambiguous loss we must take, no matter how it aches Since the day when you fell down in the sand, Reaching my hands up to your sky Tracing your back with my stray fingers Can’t ever let you go Never let you go Now I feel I can hear you saying, “What would you do there and now? and now?”

A Droplet of a Great River “What you shouldn’t do now” is all you need to know Now, don’t you hear the wind gust Can’t you see the rose grow? We move on along the flow If you feel you can’t go on Sorrow, animosity lying there inside Proof that part of you still yearns to give that part of you yet longs to live Don’t dare ignore the pain, make it a purpose You’ll find something further ahead of you you will find more to go Each of one us, a mere droplet of water Reaching, to the sea, we converge, flow forth and surge Crossing the border of the place Each of one us, a mere droplet of water Reaching, to the sea, we converge, flow forth and surge Crossing the border of the sacred space With the will to survive With the courage to take the dark side With the power to see the invisible other realm (See by ears, hear by eyes) With the lessons left for us, lo! Promises left, their voices echo Restlessly, crushingly, silently, the river must swell Without a straggler set adrift, lost Without one feigning not to notice Let us feel like they did feel Let us see like they did see Let us hear the voice ever far beyond the sea What would you do? He’s always asking you What would you do? She’s always asking What you shouldn’t do now They’re always asking you What you shouldn’t do now That’s just the wisdom gifted us Restlessly, crushingly, silently, the river must flow Each droplet converges, flows forth all in tow Let the river go to meet the ocean far beyond

White Moon and Black Sun White moon and black sun Tell us in metaphor And let us find that rose in the sand Mark the call of wind, sky, fire , and rain The faith we can trust is underlain Remember, my dears What’s concealed around surrounds us forever No matter what gets in our way Always pressing through with your inner sense Even if they knock down the apple from the tree They’ll never close the eye of history Let the story go on beyond mortality Hold them in our hearts and hand them down Pain and passion embedded in these stones On this way we came Never let THEM die in sorrows and in anger We all grow up to find and to see THEM through our hearts Each reason, each of us Momentous messages revealed from cloaked convenants Call all, upon your perceptions, in the time of darkness Catch the hidden missives left to us this way What’s concealed is always surrounding us Even if they knock down the apple from the tree They’ll never close the eye of history We’ve got reasons to be White moon and black sun Tell us in metaphor And let us find that rose in the sand Mark the call of wind, sky, fire, and rain The faith we can trust is underlain What’s concealed around surrounds us forever Even if they knock the apple from the tree They’ll never close the eye of the history We’ve got a reason to be

NOTES by SANESHIGE SHIGEZANE

APOGEE / ACCEPT
The highest peak of a symphonic rock which explores every musical landscape.

It is a voice that rings alongside the most important of those in symphonic rock, to my ears. Apogee/Accept joins them all in melody, harmony, chorus, and superb performance. Like those one remembers from their youth, the translucent sounds expose us to a multitude of expressions with touching melodies. The sounds on Apogee/Accept allow us to experience extended soundscapes like illusions stretching onto the end of the world. When progressive rock first appeared, it was an experiment in music as "music to progress." It may likewise be said that Apogee/Accept is a modern experiment in rock music drawing together classical, folk, contemporary, and music from around the world. It seeks to involve every musical element and succeeds in integrating them as its original interpretation in progressive rock. The higher it climbs and closer it gets to its own musical apogee, I feel that it becomes "pan-music," which is its own cross-genre inner musical world.
